The vision for Frank’s art style came to him shortly before the successful completion of art school where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Fine Art. Being a mostly figurative traditional artist, making the switch over to a more abstract style did not seem natural for Frank. His vision told him it was the right thing to do though. Incorporating reflective material into his artwork was always the plan, but successfully integrating the material into his canvases to fulfill his vision would prove to be more challenging than anticipated.
The project was revisited and shelved numerous times over 20 plus years. Finding a successful technique for constructing the reflective artwork in a method that completed his artistic vision would prove to be artist's greatest challenge. Frank successfully completed his first reflective canvas in 2020.
Today Adorno embraces technology to successfully complete each canvas. Each series is derived from an original photograph taken by Adorno. The photograph is then manipulated digitally to create his composition. The canvases are mixed media (pigmented archival ink and reflective material) on archival canvas. The naming of each series of canvases is born from the location or subject of the original photograph used to create the pieces.
